The RevZilla guys recently tried taking one of the smaller CanAm's offroad, with mixed success... Due in large part to it being a trike. It had a lot of trouble with deep tracks and sloped paths... Looks a lot like a GSA with twin front wheels grafted on.
The boxy tank and twin front lights look very familiar.
Must be the current stying trend. Here's the article/video... Not using the new Canyon, but the Ryker.

Venturing into the dirt on big three-wheelers may not be the greatest bad idea ever featured in a CTXP video. But it did present challenges.

This trike looks like the answer to a question no one asked.

THE CAN-AM CANYON: EMBARK ON A THREE-WHEELED ...

Can-Am was the first manufacturer to popularize three-wheeled vehicles. Beginning with the Spyder RS model, the range has expanded with the RT grand tourer, the F3 tourer and the dynamic Ryker. Now comes the Canyon, a versatile adventurer for exploring roads and paths less traveled. It benefits from all the Quebec manufacturer’s on-board technology, with a very different silhouette from its predecessors, for off-roading.

A vehicle designed to get off the paved road

BRP’s tour de force is to adapt a three-wheeler to get off the asphalt,to tackle all types of terrain, from paved roads to the steepest paths. Its sturdy chassis, long-travel suspension and 50/50 all-terrain tires make it a versatile and adaptable machine. The curvaceous aesthetics of the Spyders have been transformed into the rectangular lines of the Canyon.

The Canyon’s strong points are its stability, far superior to that of a motorcycle, thanks to its specific three-wheel architecture. No need to put your feet on the ground, the Canyon offers remarkable stability, even on slippery surfaces. And it’s adaptable, with four riding modes (Sport, All-Road, Rally, Normal) to suit different situations.

A 10.25-inch touchscreen, compatible with BRP Connect and Apple CarPlay, keeps track of the GPS while offering a host of functions.

Comfort is not forgotten, with an adjustable windscreen, non-slip footrests and a comfortable saddle even on long excursions.

The Can-Am Canyon and other Can-Am Spyder models share many features. The ROTAX ACE engine, Brembo brakes, cruise control, 10.25” touch screen, semi-automatic transmission, LED headlights and dynamic power steering are common to all Can-Am three-wheelers.

LinQ anchoring system and accessories

This system, already used on Ski-Doo and ATV models, makes it quick and easy to install a multitude of accessories on the vehicle, without the need for tools. Several sizes are available. The LinQ Nano is the smallest, for discreet installation. The LinQ 16” anchor point allows larger accessories to be attached.

The LinQ Lite is a mount for an onboard action camera. Finally, a wider LinQ 36” adventure plate can be fitted to the luggage rack, to attach more accessories or luggage for longer rides, such as the 63-liter Low-Profile box or the 70-liter storage bag.

Can-Am offers over 25 accessories specifically designed for the Canyon, and many other existing LinQ products can also be used.

These include aluminum side cases, the LinQ Nano tank bag, the LinQ 16 L cooler, the LinQ 121 L rear box, the fuel jerrycan, the Expedition front bumper, or the high windshield kit.

One of the biggest engines for adventure

With its Rotax ACETM three-cylinder in-line engine, the Canyon has one of the highest displacements of any adventure vehicle. Only top-of-the-range models from BMW or KTM reach this cm³. It develops 115 horsepower and 96 lb-ft of torque. This powerful yet flexible powertrain ensures brisk acceleration and energetic acceleration.

Safety and technology

The Canyon is equipped with a host of safety technologies, including stability control (SCS), traction control (TCS) and anti-lock brakes (ABS). The Dynamic Power Steering System (DPSTM) facilitates low-speed manoeuvring and improves driving precision.

Can-Am Canyon: an overview of the different versions

The Can-Am Canyon is available in a range of finishes, each offering a specific level of equipment to suit different needs and riding styles.

Can-Am Canyon Standard

This is the basic version, already offering a solid platform for adventure. Equipped with the essentials, it’s just waiting to be customized.

Can-Am Canyon XT

The XT model represents a higher level of equipment. It features additional equipment, including aluminum rear and side panniers that provide a further 120 L of storage capacity.

The rear suspension is enhanced by a pneumatic function with preload adjustment that automatically adjusts to the weight of the passenger and luggage.

A passenger seat is included, as is a comfort seat for the driver.

Footrests are more comfortable, and heated grips are available for both driver and passenger.

Can-Am Canyon Redrock

The Redrock is the ultimate Canyon. It features the same equipment as the XT model. Above all, it features KYB Smart-Shox semi-active suspension. It adjusts its parameters in real time according to road conditions and vehicle handling. Numerous sensors detect bumps, holes and surface changes. They also measure the vehicle’s inclination, acceleration and deceleration.

Depending on the driving mode selected, the system automatically adjusts damping and shock absorber preload.

A rearview camera is also included. It appears on the screen when reverse gear is engaged.

Comparing Canyon and Ryker

To help you understand the differences between the Canyon and Ryker, the two latest Can-Am three-wheelers, this table explains the features of each.

In conclusion

The Can-Am Canyon is a three-wheeled dual-purpose vehicle that provides access to gravel roads without having to deal with the stability of a motorcycle and the risk of rollover. It’s capable of carrying a lot of luggage, and its upgraded suspension in the two higher versions improves handling in all circumstances. It really pushes the limits of adventure.
