Born in Fez, Morocco to a Jewish family. Aldo emigrated to Canada at eleven years old. Carrying little more than a fierce determination to create a better life. His first entrepreneurial venture was selling encyclopedias door-to-door. Hardly speaking English and facing constant rejection. Aldo would get nine doors slammed in his face. Yet he kept knocking, driven by the belief that one person might listen, that one person might see the value in his pitch. This tenacity and optimism would serve him well in the years ahead. After serving in the French army, Aldo’s experience gave him the discipline and resilience to succeed in the corporate world. He got a job as a market research analyst at CIL, where one of his projects involved improving the logistics of a small shoe company. The owner was so impressed that he offered Aldo triple his salary, plus a five-percent equity share if certain goals were met. Aldo hesitated at first, dreaming of one day becoming president at CIL. But the shoe company’s owner pointed out a harsh reality—being Jewish meant Aldo would likely never attain such a position in Canada’s corporate world. Yet Aldo saw a future in the smaller company, so he accepted the offer and dedicated seven years of his life to it. When Aldo tried to collect the equity he was promised, however, his boss refused, offering only a salary increase. Disillusioned by the broken promises. Aldo left, determined to build his future on his own terms. This is how the Aldo Group was born. Rather than relying on wholesalers, which was the common practice in North America.
